تمتاز بي ام دبليو الفئة السابعة بأنها تمزج ما بين الفخامة والطابع الرياضي بطريقة تعكس أسلوب بي ام دبليو في توفير سيارة من الفئة الفارهة للرد على مرسيدس-بنز الفئة S.
يمتاز طراز بي ام دبليو الفئة السابعة وتحديدا E38 أنه لا يزال يحظى بإعجاب العديد من عشاق السيارات وتحديدا عشاق العلامة البافارية بسبب أناقة التصميم التي تميزه ومقدار الرفاهية المتوفرة بالمقصورة، من ضمن ما ميز هذا الجيل أنه تم استخدامه في فيلم العميل السري جيمس بوند “Tomorrow never dies”” جرى الإنتاج في الفترة ما بين 1994 ولغاية 2001.
يعود تاريخ انتاج السيارة موضوع المقال لعام 1997 وتم بيعها كطراز 1998 علما أنها 740i أي أنها ذات قاعدة العجلات الإعتيادية فيما يمكن تمييز الخيار الطويل من قاعدة العجلات من خلال وجود جرف L بحانب التسمية.
ما يميز هذه السيارة هو أن عداد المسافات يشير لإجتياز 255 كم فقط وذلك منذ عام 1998 أي أن السيارة تتمتع بحالة الجديدة تماما فيما أنه في المقابل قامت العديد من السيارات من ذات الطراز بإجتياز مسافات كبيرة جدا ويمكن أن تكون إحداها قد تجاوزت مليون كم.
يتكون المحرك من 8 إسطوانات بشكل V8 بسعة 4.0 ليتر، يبلغ ناتج القوة 280 حصان فيما أن عزم الدوران يصل لغاية 450 نيوتن متر، علبة التروس أوتوماتيكية مكونة من 5 نسب ترسل العزم للعجلات الخلفية كما أنها تمتاز بإمكانية التعشيق شبة اليدوي.
تتزين بي ام دبليو الفئة السابعة من الخارج باللون الأخضر الداكن، بسبب أن السيارة كانت مخزنة داخل كبسولة هوائية فإن الطلاء الأصلي لا يزال محافظا على لمعانه وجودته وأيضا لا يوجد أي أوساخ عالقة داخل أذرع العجلات.
في المقابل تتزين المقصورة بالكساء الجلدي باللون البيج وهو ما يوفر رونقا يليق بسيارة فارهة بجانب وجود الديكور الخشبي على مقبض علبة التروس ولوحة القيادة الوسطية والحيز الفاصل بين المقاعد الأمامية وأيضا بطائن الأبواب مما يضفي طابع الفخامة المطلوب.
بالطبع في حال تم عرض السيارة للبيع فإن ذلك سيدفع عشاق تجميع السيارات للتهافت من أجل ضم سيارة لم تجتاز مسافة كبيرة ضمن نطاق مجموعتهم والتباهي بها.
