بي ام دبليو الفئة السابعة E38 : سيارة التسعينات التي جمعت ما بين الهيبة والطابع الرياضي
من ضمن الميزات التي تتمتع بها الفئة السابعة هي قدرتها بشكل مباشر على منافسة مرسيدس-بنز الفئة S، بي ام دبليو الفئة السابعة E38 هي من ضمن الأجيال المميزة لمحبي طرازات العلامة البافارية.
جرى انتاج بي ام دبليو الفئة السابعة E38 في الفترة ما بين 1994 ولغاية 2001، تمتعت السيارة بمزيج ما بين الطابع الرياضي والفخامة لكن كان يجب أيضا توفير ما يلزم للرد على منافستها المباشرة وتحديدا الفئة S طراز W140 “الشبح” بسبب أن الأخيرة كلفت الشركة ما يقارب المليار دولار لتطويرها.

من ضمن ما ميز هذا الجيل أيضا من الفئة السابعة هو أنه تم الإستعانة به لخدمة العميل السري جيمس بوند في فيلم “Tomorrow never dies”، بالطبع كانت السيارة مضادة للرصاص ومزودة بأسلحة للهجوم بجانب إمكانية التحكم بها وتحريكها من قبل الهاتف النقال “مؤثرات سينمائية طبعا” مما ساهم في الترويج للسيارة بشكل أفضل.
توفرت بي ام دبليو الفئة السابعة E38 بثلاثة خيارات من أشكال الهيكل، الهيكل القياسي “730i” والهيكل الطويل “730iL” بجانب خيار الليموزين “L7” الذي توفر بمحرك V12 فقط.
توفر هذا الجيل بثلاثة خيارات من المحركات اعتمادا على إسطوانات المحرك، الخيار الأساسي هو سداسي الإسطوانات بسعة 2.8 ليتر “728i/728iL” بقوة 190 حصان، توفر أيضا في بداية الإنتاج “1994-1996” محرك سداسي الإسطوانات بسعة 3.0 ليتر “730i/730iL” تمتع بناتج قوة بلغ 215 حصان، علبة التروس لخيارات المحرك إما يدوية أو أوتوماتيكية من 5 نسب.
توفر أيضا خيارين من محركات V8، الخيار الأول بسعة 3.5 ليتر “735i/735iL” والذي كان يتصل بعلبة تروس يدوية من 5 نسب أو أوتوماتيكية من 5 نسب أيضا، ناتج القوة لهذا الخيار بلغ 233 حصان، الخيار الثاني كان بسعة 4.0 ليتر “740i/740iL” تميز هذا الخيار بتوفر علبة تروس يدوية من 6 نسب بجانب الخيار الأوتوماتيكي المكون من 5 نسب، يجدر الذكر أن هذا الجيل من الفئة السابعة كان الأخير الذي توفر بعلبة التروس اليدوية.
الخيار الأكبر من المحركات كان مكون من 12 إسطوانة بسعة 5.0 ليتر وبقوة 325 حصان كما أنه توفر بالخيار الإعتيادي أو الطويل أو الليموزين كما أنه كان يتوفر كذلك بالخيار المصفخ من أجل الحماية قدر الإمكان من الأسلحة النارية والمتفجرات.
ظهر نموذج اختباري أيضا من بي ام دبليو الفئة السابعة E38 والذي تميز من خلال محرك V12 بسعة 5.0 ليتر لكنه كان يعمل بوقود الهيدروجين مما أدى لتناقص القوة لتبلغ 203 حصان وهو كان من أولى خطوات العلامة البافارية في استعراض رغبتها بالتحول للطاقة النظيفة.
يمكن تقسيم الفترة الإنتاجية لفترتين، الأولى كانت “1994-1998” والتي يمكن معرفتها من خلال المصابيح الأمامية المكونة من قطعة واحدة فقط بجانب إشارات الإنعطاف البرتقالية في الأمام والخلف فيما أن الفترة الثانية “1999-2001” كانت تتميز من خلال وجود الدوائر في المصابيح الأمامية كما أن إشارات الإنعطاف في الأمام والخلف أصبحت باللون الأبيض.
