انضم معرض ديترويت للسيارات 2020 لقائمة الفعاليات التي تم إلغاؤها بسبب وباء فيروس كورونا وذلك ضمن إجراءات الحد من التحمعات قدر الإمكان علما أنه ليس أول معرض سيارات يتم إلغاؤه بسبب هذا الوباء.
كان في السابق يتم تنظيم معرض ديترويت للسيارات خلال شهر كانون الثاني/يناير من كل عام إلا أنه تقرر تنظيم معرض ديترويت للسيارات 2020 خلال شهر حزيران/يونيو إلا أنه تم مؤخرا إلغاؤه لسبب غير متوقع، ما هو؟
السبب هو أن الموقع المخصص لإستضافة المعرض كان قد تم تحويله لمكان عزل للمصابين بفيروس كورونا وذلك وفقا لسياسات الطوارئ وأيض الحد من أماكن التجمع قدر الإمكان.
يعد معرض ديترويت من أحد معارض السيارات الحيوية والذي يقوم من خلاله العديد من صانعي السيارات في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية بالكشف عن أحدث طرازاتهم أو عرض طرازاتهم الإختبارية التي تعكس الرؤية المستقبلية لصانعي السيارات.
بجانب ذلك يقوم عدد من صانعي السيارات من كافة الدول الأخرى بعرض أيضا أحدث ما لديهم من السيارات بجانب الإعلان عن طراز يتم بيعه حصريا لأسواق الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية وهو أحد أكثر الأسواق الهامة لصانعي السيارات خاصة طرازات الدفع الرباعي التي باتت تشهد إقبالا غير مسبوق من كافة الأحجام.
معرض ديترويت للسيارات 2020 هو ليس أول معرض سيارات بتم إلغاؤه بسبب فيروس كورونا بل سبق إلغاء معرض جنيف للسيارات قبل موعده بفترة قصيرة أيضا فيما تم تأجيل موعد معرض نيويورك للسيارات لغاية شهر آب/أغسطس لذات العام، لم يتم بعد ذكر أي تفاصيل تتعلق بمعرض باريس للسيارات الذي يتم عادة تنظيمه في شهر تشرين أول/أكتوبر وفقط في الأعوام الزوجية فقط.
ربما الخاسر الأكبر بسبب وباء فيروس كورونا هو الرياضة الميكانيكية حيث تم إلغاء سباق جائزة أستراليا الكبرى للفورميولا1 بجانب العديد من السباقات الأخرى فيما أنه لا يزال مصير بقية السباقات الأخرى لبطولة العالم للفورميولا1 مجهولا بعد فيما تم تأجيل سباق 24 ساعة في لومان لغاية شهر أيلول/سبتمبر.
