أعلنت مجلة توب جير عن ان سيارة هيونداي كونا الكتريك الكهربائية هي أفضل سيارة عائلية صغيرة، ضمن جوائز المجلة البريطانية المرموقة للسيارات الكهربائية.
وقد ذكرت المجلة بأن سيارة كونا قد قطعت لتربح هذه الجائزة، رحلة برية طولها 1600 كيلومتر عبر 9 دول في أوروبا، وقد حازت هيونداي كونا الكتريك التي تعتبر اس يو في، اي سيارة متعددة الأغراض، وكهربائية بالكامل بعدما اثبتت كفاءتها وقدرتها على قطع المسافات الطويلة ولأدائها السلس أيضا. 
وقد استمرت تجربة كونا عبر القارة العجوز، التي جرت في شهر ديسمبر الماضي، ليوم كامل، حيث قادها تشارلي تورنر رئيس تحرير المجلة، وقد استخدم تورنر الشبكة الأوروبية للشحن السريع لتزويد السيارة بـ 316 كيلو وات في الساعة من الكهرباء. وتم اختيار شحن 80٪ فقط لزيادة وقت القيادة إلى أقصى حد.
وقد بدأت الرحلة من التشيك؛ عبرت كونا خلالها 9 دول هي ألمانيا والنمسا وسويسرا وليختنشتاين وفرنسا ولوكسمبورغ وبلجيكا وهولندا، قاطعة مسافة 1600 كيلومتر.
وتعليقا على تجربته الطويلة قال تورنر: ” كانت تجربة غريبة خصوصا في أجواء حظر التجوال والإغلاق التام الذي تشهده عدد كبير من الدول، والتي تمنع الكثيرين من القيادة بحرية، تمتعت بسيارة هيونداي كونا الكهربائية والتي اعتبرها مصدرا للأمل بحرية التنقل بين البلاد براحة وثقة تامة، السيارات الكهربائية هي مستقبل التنقل، وسيارة مثل كونا الكتريك تؤكد إمكانية التنقل السلس، الخالي من القلق لمسافات طويلة”.
ومن جهته صرح أندرياس كريستوف هوفمان، نائب التسويق والإنتاج في هيونداي موتور أوروبا: “بعد إطلاقها في عام 2018، أثبتت سيارة كونا SUV نفسها كمركبة صديقة للبيئة بلا عادم وبأسعار معقولة، وتجمع بين العملية والأداء العالي، وأدت التحديثات الأخيرة للسيارة لتطوير قدرتها على التواصل مع السائق، كما أضافت شاحنًا ثلاثيًا لها، لنكون أمام سيارة مثالية، ويسعدنا بجانب رصيدنا الكبير من الجوائز التي حصلت عليها كونا SUV أن نتلقى جائزة من مجلة توب جير الشهيرة”.
