يحتل طراز رانجلر مكانة خاصة لدى عشاق جيب بسبب أنه لم يتم التغيير على جوهره والغاية الأساسية من اقتنائه وهي القيادة على كافة أنواع الطرقات، جيب رانجلر 4xe هي نسخة الهايبرد التي بدورها تساعد على توفير الوقود.
تم الكشف عن جيب رانجلر 4xe كنسخة اختبارية خلال فعاليات معرض الإلكترونيات الإستهلاكية “CES” مطلع عام 2020 والذي يتم تنظيمه في لاس فيجاس، من المتوقع أن تدخل السيارة لحيز الإنتاج قريبا على أن يتم توفير نسخة هايبرد لكافة طرازات جيب لاحقا وهي شيروكي وجراند شيروكي بجانب طراز واجنير وجراند واجونير “النسخة ذات قاعدة العجلات الطويلة من واجونيير” بحلول عام 2022.
تحوم الشائعات أنه من شبه المؤكد وبدرجة كبيرة أن يتم إطلاق النسخة الهايبرد من جيب رانجلر خلال أواخر عام 2020 خلال الإجتماع السنوي لمجموعة فيات كرايسلر بين كلا من الإدارة ومالكي الأسهم بجانب مناقشة القرارات الأخرى المتعلقة بالمجموعة.
الهدف من توفير النسخة الهايبرد من طراز رانجلر في البدابة بسبب المكانة التي يحظى بها هذا الطراز والذي تمكن بدوره من ترسيخ مكانة جيب في عالم سيارات الدفع الرباعي بجدارة لكن طبعا سيتم توفير خيارات الهايبرد تباعا لبقية الطرازات الأخرى.
في المقابل سيجري توفير طرازي كومباس ورينيجيد بمحرك 4xe الهايبرد للأسواق الأوروبية اعتبارا من شهر تموز/يوليو لعام 2020 خاصة أن هذه الأسواق باتت تفضل خيارات محركات الهايبرد التي توفر معدل منخفض من انبعاثات غازات العادم أي أن ذلك يعني رسوم وضرائب أقل بالمقارنة مع الطرازات ذاتها التي تحتوي على محرك البنزين لوحده.
سيكون محرك جيب رانجلر 4xe مكونا من محرك بنزين رباعي الإسطوانات بسعة 2.0 ليتر قادر على انتاج 270 حصان لوحده، لم يتم بعد ذكر أي تفاصيل تتعلق بالمحرك الكهربائي المساند بإستثناء أنه سيكون من الفئة القابلة للشحن الخارجي “plug-in hybrid” كما أنه يمكن السير عليه لمفرده لمسافة محددة خاصة عند القيادة على الطرقات المزدحمة.
يوجد أيضا سوق محتمل آخر يلائم جيب رانجلر 4xe وهو سوق الصين حيث أنه بات يجتذب اهتمام صانعي السيارات كما أن بعضهم قام بتوفير إصدارات حصرية خاصة لهذا السوق بجانب الرغبة في تعزيز حضور السيارات الكهربائية بجانب خياري الدفع الرباعي كومباس ورينيجيد.
