من ضمن ما يساعد مجموعة فولكس واجن في ذلك هو أنها تمتلك مصنع زويكاو والذي تم تخصيصه لإنتاج سيارات الكهرباء بالكامل علما أنه يستطيع صناعة 330 ألف سيارة سنويا، يبلغ حجم الإنتاج الإجمالي 6049207 سيارة منذ افتتاح المصنع لأول مرة عام 1990 علما أنه يعد حاليا أكبر مصنع للسيارات الكهربائية على مستوى أوروبا، بجانب ذلك فإن العاملين في هذا المصنع يبلغ عددهم 8000 عامل تمكنو من إكمال 20500 ساعة من التدريب.
في المقابل فإن شركة تسلا تقوم ببناء مصنع داخل ألمانيا والهدف منه تصنيع نظام مقل الحركة والبطاريات المزودة للطاقة لطراز موديل Y وهو طراز كروس أوفر أصغر حجما من موديل Y وهو ما تعتبره فولكس واجن زيادة في المنافسة بالنسبة لها علما أنه من الممكن إناطة المزيد من المهام لهذا المصنع في المستقبل.
يتم تصنيع كلا من فولكس واجن ID3 وID4 بجانب أودي Q4 إي-ترون كما أنه ستنضم طرازات أخرى ليتم تصنيعها في هذا المصنع المخصص للسيارات الكهربائية بالكامل للعلامات التي تنضوي تحت لواء مجموعة فولكس واجن.
