تويوتا بريوس : السيارة التي أطلقت شرارة المحركات الهجينة
تمكنت تويوتا بريوس من اثبات حضورها على مدى أجيالها لسبب وحد فقط وهو لفت نظر العالم أجمع إلى فكرة المحرك الهجين الذي يتكون من محرك وقود تقليدي بجانب المحرك الكهربائي وهو ما بات حاليا يتوفر لدى العديد من شركات السيارات.

الجيل الأول : 1997-2003
عندما قامت شركة تويوتا بتقديم تويوتا بريوس لأول مرة عام 1997 وتحديدا في شهر كانون الأول/ ديسمبر كانت تباع حصريا في اليابان، منذ عام 2000 بدأ بيع السيارة في كلا من المملكة المتحدة والولايات المتحدة الأمريكية، بسبب رخص أسعار الوقود في تلك الفترة لم تحظى السيارة بإقبال واسع لكنها شكلت خيار التنقل لمن يريد سيارة زهيدة الثمن.
الجيل الثاني : 2004-2009
شهد الجيل الثاني من تويوتا بريوس التحول من فئة الصالون للهاتشباك، أبرز العوامل التي ساعدت في انتشار هذه السيارة هي بداية ارتفاع أسعار الوقود في كافة أنحاء العالم بشكل لافت للغاية مما دفع بالعديد من الأشخاص التفكير بخيارات إقتصادية أكثر للوقود وهو ما كان طراز بريوس يلبيه بجدارة خاصة في ولاية كاليفورنيا التي يعتمد بها العديد من الأشخاص على السيارة كوسيلة نقل أساسية بفضل العديد من التجهيزات التي توفرها.
الجيل الثالث : 2010-2015
تحلى الجيل الثالث من تويوتا بريوس بتصميم جرئ خلافا للجيل السابق، من أبرز ميزات هذا الجيل من بريوس هو توفره بعدة خيارات أمام الزبائن مثل بريوسC الأصغر حجما وأكثر توفيرا للوقود، يوجد أيضا خيار الفان بريوس V للأسواق الأمريكية أو بلاس لنظيرتها الأوروبية.
خضع الجيل الثالث من تويوتا بريوس لعملية تحسين للطرازات ما بين 2012-2015 حيث شملت اعادة رسم المصابيح الأمامية الوخلفية والكشافات الأمامية والخلفية أيضا بجانب التعديلات البسيطة على المقصورة، توفر خيار السقف البانورامي لأول مرة مع هذا الجيل والذي وفر أيضا ميزة تبريد المقصورة في حال الركن بالأماكن المكشوفة.
من أبرز ما ميز هذ الجيل من تويوتا بريوس هو وجود طراز هجين قابل للشحن الخارجي من أجل توفير أكبر للوقود والذي يمكن تمييزه من خلال وجود الخط الفضي على حافة صندوق الأمتعة.
الجيل الرابع : لايزال قيد الانتاج منذ عام 2016
شهد الجيل الرابع من تويوتا بريوس استيراده من قبل الوكلاء في منطقة الخليج العربي لأول مرة بجانب توسع انتشاره في العديد من أنحاء العالم لما يتميز به من توفير للوقود، يوجد خيار أكثر توفيرا للوقود وهو بريوس برايم وهو طراز هجين قابل للشحن الخارجي ويتم بيعه في الولايات المتدة الأمريكية تحت هذه التسمية فيما أنه في بقية الأسواق يباع تحت اسم بريوس PHV.
شهد عام 2018 تقديم النسخة المحسنة والتي تتميز من خلال إعادة رسم كلا من المصابيح الأمامية والخلفية لتصبح أكثر تهذيبا كما تم توفير خيار الدفع الرباعي لأول مرة في تاريخ طرازات بريوس.
